There’s nothing better than a delicious and guilt free smoothie that’s put together with some of your favorite fruits and vegetables. These are those great drinks that you love to buy any time of year but especially during the summer. These wonderful smoothies taste great and give your body everything it craves and needs.
But, have you ever gone home and tried to make your own homemade smoothies and for some reason they just don’t taste like the ones the pros make? Doesn’t make much sense does it? No matter how hard you have tried they either taste too green, they’re too icy or something just doesn’t seem right. Don’t give up because that doesn’t have to be. If you try following some of these tricks, tips, secrets, whatever you want to call them, you should be making great tasting and healthy homemade smoothies in no time at all.
Make Sure to Use Only Freshest Ingredients
When you use the freshest possible fruits and veggies for your homemade smoothies, your smoothies are always going to taste better than using older fruits and veggies. There is a huge taste difference. By using the freshest ingredients is also going to maximize the nutrient rich potential that your homemade smoothies have in them.
The best rule of thumb to follow when it comes to buying produce is to use the fruit within the first three days of buying it and within the first five days of buying your veggies. This is when they’ll be at their peak in freshness and will help make better tasting homemade smoothies.
Consider Investing in a Restaurant Grade Blender
Sad to say, the regular inexpensive blender doesn’t cut it these days, if you want your homemade smoothies tasting like a pro made it. In order to get that same type of smoothie you really might want to consider investing in a very high performance blender with multiple speeds. This is going to guarantee that you will create a very well-blended drink and it also lets you use much hardier and more great tasting ingredients like almond butter and/or granola.
Probably one of the best choices for making professional style homemade smoothies would be the Vitamix or something very similar to it in quality.
Never Be Afraid to Experiment
If you are looking for an exotic taste for your homemade smoothies then you’re going to have to be willing to experiment with different fruits and different flavors you
Forget about what I said in the last post on being pear-shaped. Then again, don’t. If you think you’re shaped like a pear, why don’t you strip yourself down naked and have another look at yourself in the mirror. Chances are good that you’re much closer to being the perfectly shaped woman. Women are naturally more rounded at the hips in any case. But if you’ve been heaving, huffing and puffing lately, then maybe it’s because of those love handles you’ve accumulated around the stomach area. That is not good. It’s usually an accumulation of excess fat that the men in our lives pack around them, and it’s usually because they have been physically inactive for a number of years and have been eating junk which is bad for them.
The same goes for those overweight women who now have those same excess accumulations around the abdomen area. It’s time to get rid of it. It’s not looking good and it’s highly uncomfortable, especially when you find yourselves no longer being able to squeeze into your favorite designer numbers that you spent a fortune on. So, today I thought I’d introduce you to the weird and wacky but absolutely wonderful world of smoothies for weight loss. I also thought I’d have a go at all the other essentials, food and otherwise, that you’ll not only need to lose weight but get back into shape, pear-shaped or not, and healthy again.
I’m also going to need to have a chat with you about the need to exercise and always be physically active in order to keep your shape and to stay light on your feet. Because if you go back to sitting on the couch after your first smoothie, green-leafed salad and pretty much nothing else, you’re going to be so low key in the energy department, you might not even want to get up in the morning. That would be a real bummer. You need to realize right from the get go that whether you’re drinking a smoothie for breakfast or dieting across the board to lose weight, there are important factors, such as enriching yourself with protein, to keep off the pounds and look after your new health and fitness requirements.
Smoothies with pears
Let’s say this for a joke. I’ve been using the delicious naturally sugared pear as a delightful metaphor to describe women’s moods and feelings regarding their shape and size.
Hi guys! Welcome, welcome, welcome. While this is a very serious issue I’m raising with you guys today, I want you all to just relax. The moment we all start stressing is when things tend to go all pear-shaped. Health and fitness issues facing women today is no laughing matter but I can laugh at those women who hate being what they call pear-shaped. I can’t see why this issue of how the body is shaped should be a problem. More important to me is the matter of being healthy and fit one time.
Stop being vain
One big reason why so many women truly fail to become completely healthy is that they are too focused on how they look and on how others, especially the men, perceive them. When that happens, their dieting and exercising plans go all pear-shaped. In a desperate bid to lose weight, they ignore important food groups such as protein and those containing healthy fats. Salads are all good, fine and dandy, containing next to no fat at all, but on its own, don’t do the dieting woman’s health any good.
Stress is known as a silent killer, and it seems to be affecting more and more women today. This has got to do with the pressures of life, certainly, but a lot of the pressure on their shoulders is caused by the women themselves. While busy housewives have their own typical issues, let us not forget the single, overweight woman who, depressed witless, tries in vain to comfort herself with junk food on her couch that end up leaving her full for a while but more empty, emotionally and physiologically speaking, by the time the next day arrives.
Learn to say no
Part of the reason why many women struggle so much in life, no matter what their cultural or socio-economic circumstances, is that they just can’t stop and say no. they are too eager to want to please others in order to be liked and loved a little bit more. Healthy exercise regimes and time spent outdoors over weekends, alone or with like minded friends becomes indicative of the proverbial ‘me time’. It is also a new thing to practice learning to say no to the body that might still be craving helpings from the ice cream tub or pizza hut.
Look after yourself first
Where women’s health and fitness is concerned, so much more can be achieved in
My last post was a blast, wasn’t it? Hope you had as much fun as I did putting together your first smoothie to help you lose weight and your first green smoothie with which to energize yourself for your new physically active and healthy life. Maybe you want to grab another smoothie because if you’re new to all of this, you’ll need some brain power as I begin proposing how you can go about putting together some exercise strategies to help you lose it all. Rest assured, as in you’ll have plenty of time to rest and recuperate, and as in relax, I know what some of you are going through because I’ve been there and done that.
Trying to lose weight and then figuring out how to put together exercise plans, correct eating habits and making your own smoothies for weight loss goals can be pretty frustrating in the beginning. In this health and fitness regime, patience is the name of the game. Hardcore discipline is required too. Because as you know from how you might be feeling right now and I can tell from personal experience, making the change from being typically obese and sedentary, doing nothing other than watch TV over weekends and at night, eating junk, to being continuously preoccupied and active, on your feet for most of the day, is quite a radical paradigm shift.
Learn to crawl before you run
Another reason why many women fail when trying to lose weight and get back in the saddle where fitness is concerned is because they try to do too much. They buy an expensive pair of running shoes and truly awesome looking singlets and shorts, all in the name of vanity and never in the interest of their good health, and go blasting around the corner on their first Olympian run. By the time they’ve reached the next corner, they’ve given up, huffing and puffing for oxygen. First try out brisk walking and wear nothing fancy other than your favorite comfy outdoor clothes, a good sunhat and pretty decent walking shoes.
Let’s get physically active
And yet another reason why they fail to keep themselves in shape, in more ways than one, is because they do little of nothing after their short exercise session is done and dusted for the day, or week. The busy office worker sits on her bum for the best part of her day. The busy
Right, I hope that last post has managed to get your creative juices flowing for a bit, so much so that you’re really keen to get your act together and start exercising yesterday. Doesn’t matter how heavy you are on the scale or how much of your figure can’t fill your bedroom mirror, you all want to lose some weight at least, right? So here’s what I thought we’d do today. I thought we’d start having a fun-filled go at putting together some of our own exercise plans for weight loss targets. Yes, you heard right. We’re also going to be trying to have as much fun as possible. Otherwise, what’s the point? Never mind just losing weight, which is going to do the trick for you in this department anyway, your future exercise strategies should be indicative of having as much fun as possible. Part of the fun of being healthy, in fact, most of it is anyway, is that you’re going to, or should be trying to be as happy as possible.
The target areas
So, it should be obvious. If you’ve got too much excess jelly around the abdomen area, you’re going to be focusing a great deal of your core and strengthening exercises there. For instance, as the jelly goes, that area needs to be strengthened and previously missing muscles need to be built up once more. There’s fun in variety so you’ll be happy to know that it’s not just pushups or stomach crunches you stay with. Other areas of your body, such as your flabby biceps, also need its turn to be worked out.
Going for balance, not for broke
The last post spoke of doing both too little and even too much. But when you get the balance right, you do neither too little nor too much. You’re more motivated and pumped up for the next session than anything else. If I had to be doing the same routine day in and day out, I’d probably not be sitting here, typing out a not so routine blog post on health and fitness for girls like you and me. Girls like sugar and spice. Natural sugar from your fruits is good for you. Variety, doing different things like cycling and hiking every day, works wonders for your emotional wellbeing and keeps you from becoming utterly bored with life and its exercises.
Subject to change
Part of the fun that you
